Connecting Kids to Justice Home

Connecting Kids to Justice is a feature that focuses on raising awareness of Catholic social teaching and various social issues. This year at High Seas Expedition, Connecting Kids to Justice will focus on the Catholic social teaching principle of Solidarity of the Human Family. Through the Connecting Kids to Justice stories and information, kids at your Totally Catholic Summer Program will learn to defend the life and dignity of people living in poverty throughout the world by joining together to help respond to the many faces of poverty. The stories in Connecting Kids to Justice will highlight the Catholics Confront Global Poverty initiative.

What is the Catholics Confront Global Poverty Initiative?
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) call on one million Catholics in the United States to confront global poverty. Catholics Confront Global Poverty asks Catholics to come together to advocate to end hunger, disease, conflict, and other issues that affect the lives of our brothers and sisters worldwide.

The Catholics Confront Global Poverty initiative is inspired by Pope Benedict XVI’s 2009 World Day of Peace Message: Fight Poverty to Build Peace. Our Holy Father declared that we can only effectively improve the marginalization of the poor throughout the world by responding with personal outrage to human rights violations and the injustices that occur in the world. To fight poverty effectively we also need to know the many faces of poverty.
